AIU’s Response to Coronavirus

As of today, there have been 14 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in Japan. However, all confirmed cases have been people who had direct contact with people from Wuhan, and all cases have been far away from Akita.

At Akita International University, we have taken precautionary public health measures to contain the outbreak, including issuing guidance for reducing the spread of infectious diseases to all students, faculty and staff members. We have also prepared and educated staff members on measures for emergency response, so that even if the virus does reach campus, we will be prepared to provide students with the necessary care as quickly as possible.

We will continue to review and monitor the situation in our region and share any new information as necessary.

I hope that these measures will put your mind somewhat at ease. Please rest assured that our first priority is to keep all of our students safe while ensuring that their experience at AIU is as productive and enriching as possible.
